Many of you love the character sketches I create at Disneyland and reach out with lovely stories about specific characters or wanting to order a sketch online. While I wish I could offer a solution, unfortunately I am only allowed to create and Disney artwork through the company and they sell it in the park. The official character sketches are only sold in the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World and must be ordered in person.

My best advice is to practice a lot and focus on understanding the basic shape construction of the characters, developing clean and confident line work, and gaining a strong understanding of color theory. It’s also very helpful to look at current sketch program sketches and try to practice drawing in the style we draw in. I unfortunately don’t have a say in the hiring process and do not speak for the company, but if becoming a sketch artist is something you really want to do, I encourage you to practice often, check the Disney careers website often, and go for it if a position ever opens up! I am not privy to any additional information about when the company hires or who they will pick. I do however, relate to wanting to know anything and everything about the role as it was my dream job too! I love how many artists I get to meet and talk to each day. There are so many talented, skilled, and passionate people out there! Good luck to any and all aspiring artists out there. :)

I do not have any immediate plans to re-open my shop. I am re-focusing my attention on my friends and family, and creating music.
